Rouben Mamoulian

Rouben Zachary Mamoulian (October 8, 1897 – December 4, 1987) was an Armenian-American film and theatre director. He directed his first feature film in 1929, Applause, which was one of the earliest talkies. It was a landmark film owing to Mamoulian's innovative use of camera movement and sound, and these qualities were carried through to his other films released in the 1930s.
In 1982 Mamoulian received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Directors Guild of America and he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1709 Vine Street.

Ivan Ayvazovsky

Russian painter of Armenian descent, most famous for his seascapes, which constitute more than half of his paintings. Due to his long life in art, Ayvazovsky became the most prolific Russian painter of his days. He left over 6,000 works at his death in 1900. With funds earned during his successful career as an artist he opened an art school and gallery in his home town of Feodosiya.
Ivan Aivazovsky is one of the few Russian artists to achieve wide recognition during their lifetime.
